FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Q: How do I book B&J or find out more?

Please call 07900 492 646 or email us at info@beethovenandjemima.com
We can tell you more about our services and discuss what you need.
Entrusting your pets to someone is never easy so we’re more than
happy to meet you in person and introduce ourselves.

Q: What makes B&J different to other pet services out there?
What makes us different, we think, is our belief in keeping B&J small and focused on Bayswater and Notting Hill. This means that you can get to know us and we can be more responsive in helping you out, even at short notice. Our motivation is not to feed-and-go or walk handfuls of dogs each morning. Rather, we want to provide a conscientious, personal service which is competitively priced, so that you – and your pets - are happy to use us again.

Q: Who runs Beethoven and Jemima?
B&J is run by three friends who all live in the neighbourhood, grew-up with animals and love being with them.

Q: Will I meet my dog walker or pet sitter?
Yes. Before using B&J, you will meet the person looking after the animal and they will spend some time with you discussing the personality and needs of your pet. With dog walking, we also offer a complimentary trial walk.

Q: When I use B&J, will you update me on how things are going?
Definitely. Communication with the owner is very important. Whenever you use us, we will call/text/email you (whichever you prefer) providing an update.

Q: How many dogs are exercised at any one time?
Small groups of up to three dogs, or one-on-one.

Q: How do you arrange picking up and dropping off the dogs?
We will come by and collect your dog from your house at the prearranged time and then return it safely afterwards. Because we’re local, we will pick-up your dog on foot, ensuring the maximum exercise time. Please ask if you need us to keep your dog for a bit longer.

Q: Are you police checked?
Yes. Everyone at B&J is fully checked.

Q: Are you insured?
Yes, we have comprehensive coverage from a specialist pet care insurance agency. If you would like more information or wish to see our insurance certificate, please ask.

Q: Do you exercise dogs off lead?
Ideally, we exercise your dog off lead once we get into open ground, but only if we have your permission and only once we are confident they will be safe. We will never walk them off the lead when close to roads, traffic or in other situations which we judge to be unsuitable.

Q: What will you do if my cat disappears or my dog runs off during an outing?
We take every measure to ensure this doesn’t happen but are well prepared in case it does. We will ask you to complete a check-list to ensure we have all the information we need about your pet, including its microchip details*, together with a photo of your pet so there is one readily available for distribution if needed. All dogs wear a tag showing our B&J contact details when they are in our charge. If your pet does stray, we follow a set of procedures that ensure all relevant people and agencies are alerted to the situation and that information about your pet is disseminated quickly, widely and effectively.  * We do recommend that your pet is microchipped. This simple and cheap procedure can be done by your local vet and considerably increases the chances of a lost animal being identified. Petlog can be contacted on 0870 606 6751 or visit www.petlog.org.uk. While we are working for you, we recommend that you add our details to their list of contacts.

Q: What do you do in an emergency?
In an emergency, we will immediately call you or whoever you have given us as our first point of contact. If necessary, we will take your pet to your own vet or the most local to us.

Q: What is your cancellation policy?
If you have to cancel an appointment, please contact us by telephone giving at least 24 hours notice. Otherwise, we may need to apply a full charge.
